The Princess of Disaster. No, she did not get her name from just anywhere. It grew on her like a fungus. She tried to get rid of its existence, but it grew back each time to claim its title. Most of the time she was a quiet girl and at other times loud and energetic. She never could quite remember when she was truly happy. You see. Every time she would strike thunder; she became small, and her thoughts became lost. It didn’t take a lot of energy for her to start fires. She didn’t wish destruction upon her loved ones. Nor did she ever plan to destroy the environment in which she lived. It all came to pass without her wanting.
She desired to be happy. She wanted to be free, but she couldn't decide what the real meaning of free meant. She never wanted this burden and weight on her shoulders. She doesn't want anything. She only wanted a place where she could dream peacefully. What can fulfill her wishes?
Both physical and spiritual, she yearned for physical comfort. Something she could hold in her arms or in her hands. The words of her Lord have calmed her thoughts, but as a living flesh she’s uneasy. The rumbling and thunderstorms dwell within. When she’s in a bad state of mind, it is like a blindfold has covered her eyes and unleashes her sharp mouth. Her brain has taken its vacation and left her stranded with a heart that can not decide for itself.
It can not feel when the body doesn't function. Which then disrupts the peaceful spirit and turns it one eighty degrees. Anger and bitterness, a blizzard has passed over, and a fire has erupted. In the midst of all the disaster, she comes back and sees what she has done when her eyes were covered. The guilt eats at her once again, and she does not remember happiness. She wishes she was locked away. Locked from the world. Locked from this universe, but there is no stopping her.
She wished she hadn’t seen anything or spoken anything or felt anything. There is so much to see, so much to hear, so much to feel and all is bad for her. This Princess of Disaster only knows how to get people mad and turn against her. In her ears she hears all the ways she had messed up. It makes her sad inside, but at the same time she doesn’t feel anything.
“What have I done?” She does not want to feel anything, nor see anything, nor hear anything. So, she locked herself away so that no one else would get hurt.
2018
Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed. This was a short story I wrote many years back. I've since updated it for this post. Mid rereading the story I am leaning towards including the Princess of Disaster as a folk tale in the Muffin Milk lore. A big part of Lucy and Tora exploring is that they are trying to find truth in a world where they have no recollection where they came from.
