Let’s take a trip to the past. When I was 11, I wrote a poem to the earth. My language arts teacher always had us writing poems for class. Thanks to my paper hoarding tendencies, a lot of my poems are preserved. I am working on digitalizing them soon so I can keep those memories forever. Maybe by the time this is published, I would have typed them all down on my computer. For now, here is a snippet of my childhood. Happy Earth Day! I love you earth!
Greatest Treasure
The greatest treasure in the world
Is the Earth,
And everything in it.
Earth,
So lovely
You make me happy
When I wake up
And see you
The birds and the bees
Fly high in the sky.
The fishes and the sharks
Swim underneath the oceans.
All of this
Is a part of you.
You are the most beautiful thing
I have ever seen.
Don’t be scared
To show who you are.
Get out from the covers
And show your beauty.
Shine in the morning
Like you always do.
And go to rest
Like you need to.
Let all your stress out.
It is okay,
Everyone will be fine.
God put us on you
And it is our duty to
Save the day!

I have no recollection of this poem, but it shows my love for this earth. A beautiful earth that needs to be cared for. I still share that same sentiment now. The earth helps us and we help the earth in return. We were made to cohabitate and work together along with the rest of nature. Happy Earth Day!
