The song of my heart silently sings
While I deprive it of its songs
Its desire to yell out into the heavens all her praises
I silence it and keep it hidden
It sings a soft song like a shy purr
Its calling is heart wrenching to hear
As it looks for its owners approval
She sings softly to herself
Comforting her desires to be loved
Her songs slips into longing cries
She wails into the night
Echoing through the city
The deep sky absorbs it all
The stars dance for her song
And the wind jitters with delight
The trees follow along with her tunes
Creating an orchestra that encamps around her
She is full of hope
She will sing her songs without shame
Yeah,
Without shame does she pour out her love
No one will keep her silent

“Be filled with the Spirit: Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart for the lord;” Ephesians 5:19-20
Recently I fell upon this verse while reading Ephesians. I had the verse highlighted in my book and it reminded me of my poem. At the time of the poem I felt I was lacking the connection singing gives me and it felt like a grieving cat, because I don’t sing as much anymore. My heart burst with songs that are full of praise and hope.

Thanks for reading!
